They hold various basketball clinics and academic programs, including their Spring 2013 Combine. I was engaged to provide a website as well as other printed materials to support the events.

What I Had For Dinner Tonight .com

In 2008, I launched a blog to answer a question a friend kept asking me, “What did you have for dinner tonight?” I realized it would be more fun if others could contribute and share their meals, and soon, the blog became an active community, with thousands of posts and comments.

Now, five years later the blog boasts members from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, and has a thriving Facebook community, too. It is fully Search Engine Optimized, and ranks in the top 10 of major search engines for common variations of the phrase, “dinner tonight.” It has become an excellent resource for cooks, too, allowing users to search for meals by ingredients.

I’ve enjoyed the challenge of rethinking the site several times, to incorporate new social and web technologies. I’ve also used the site as a chance to explore how to customize and create child themes for WordPress themes created by others. The latest update for the fifth anniversary allows users to post to the site automatically when they post to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Flickr. The site is also fully responsive, with different displays for different platforms.

Storyleaders website

Storyleaders is a sales training company based in Los Angeles who contracted with me to design and develop their new site. The goal was to redefine and elevate the brand, present video content at the highest possible quality, and to drive contact and engagement among users. To that end, I designed a bespoke WordPress theme and developed a customized back end that includes an events management system and an integrated social network. The site is engineered to deliver the best quality when viewed on a high density display, and is designed to respond to different viewing platforms.

2013 Calendar

As a gift to my friends and clients this past year, I sent out a calendar I had printed. I set myself the task of illustrating each month with something simple in Adobe Illustrator, using only black, white and gold. I had them offset printed, using only black and Pantone 872U, on 13 point uncoated stock.

I have been taking photographs since I was about 7 years old. I’ve progressed through a variety of cameras through the years from my first 110 Instamatic, and now I shoot the majority of my photos with my iPhone 4S, which is always with me, and has a surprisingly good camera. For Christmas 2012, I thought I would gather some of my favorite shots of the last year and put together a book to give as gifts. I had five copies printed, and I am really proud of the results. SANBlaze Collateral

SANBlaze is a manufacturer of backplanes and other server-related hardware. All of their products require individual data sheets, describing their purposes. They compete in several different markets, with a particular focus on the defense market. I took a disparate design program and unified it, while still keeping the distinction between their civilian and military product lines.

Primalistas landing page

Primalistas, a start-up high fashion trunk-sale website, came to me looking for a catchy, sophisticated landing page design, to encourage a sense of exclusivity and drive new signups. Ultimately, they went with different branding, but I quite liked the idea of the RSVP card sliding out from under the invitation to be filled in.

Navigenics Wireframes and Mockups

At Navigenics, I was not only responsible for redesigning the branding for the marketing department, I was also tasked with creating wireframes and mockups to demonstrate new functionality for the site. The three main projects I worked on were to revise the billing process to allow for renewals, to revise the member home page to include new dynamic content, and to revise the visitor home page with updated assets.

After updating the company’s web banners and branding, it was time to turn my attention to other corporate collateral. Most important was the redesign of the brochure, to include all of the conditions and medication responses the Navigenics test was good for, and to enhance its use as a sales tool. I also created a poster to hang in clinics, new one sheets, as well as new packaging. All of these were to designed to emphasize the health and wellness benefits of their genetic tests, rather than the science of genetics, and to make the branding more consistent and recognizable.
